The Spectral Type

Ambient, melodic, groove, aggressive; these are just some of the words which could be used to describe the artfully crafted sound of The Spectral Type. As a band, The Spectral Type aims to capture these feelings in every song written, creating a roller coaster of emotions, emulating the spectrum of the human psyche. The inception of what would later become The Spectral Type began with three brothers; Dan, Dave and Sean, who all shared a passion for music. Late 2012, the three were all playing together in a project, however, after writing a couple songs together, it became clear that there were creative differences present. Come spring of 2013, the three were on the hunt for a drummer and a bassist to continue their musical endeavors. As it happens with most bands, they went through audition after audition before indirectly stumbling upon their future drummer, Josh. After an audition, he was officially named the drummer. A few months later, they were contacted by a bassist who was interested in joining the project. An audition was held, and shortly after, Steve was welcomed to the band. After Sean decided to part ways with the band, Josh reached out to a vocalist. The group set up an audition for the vocalist, and after a handful of auditions, The Spectral Type welcomed Jonathan to complete the lineup. After much hard work and dedication, the band booked, and played their first show in August 2014. Since then, they haven't looked back. As they continuously breach new horizons, The Spectral Type progresses, honing their sonic qualities, thus building a solid foundation for the band to take root. As they progress through the early stages of their career, they are focused on building a solid fan-base in Youngstown, Ohio and Sharon, Pennsylvania, as well as the surrounding greater Pittsburgh and Cleveland regions. Music conveys emotion. Anger, sadness, excitement, happiness, fear, regret, guilt, love, frustration-these are all things every human being has experienced at one point in their life. We are The Spectral Type. We are an ambient, progressive metal band based out of the Youngstown / Sharon area.
