About this concert
Sound Healing - Live Music & Meditation Seminar Date : 30th May 2015 at 5.30 pmPopular classical Indian music offers an emotional experience (rasa) familiar to all its rasika-s. In contrast, meditation with music seminar builds on the healing power of musical notes that emerge spontaneously and naturally as melodic tunes. The central energetic concept of nada is used to create a meditative experience in participants. While rasika-s will recognize the rasa that emerges, the focus of this sound healing seminar is to create inner calm & meditative relief from stress. Meditation Facilitator: Dr. Aparna Ramaswamy is a dancer trained in Bharatha Natyam with over 40 years of dancing & teaching experience. Her PhD research is on linking the practices of classical Indian dance with the ashta anga principles of yoga. As a psychotherapist, Aparna combines music, movement & meditation with conventional cognitive behavioral therapy. Dr. Ramaswamy is part of the faculty team at Johns Hopkins University in their Counseling programs.
