Three stylistically eclectic Bay Area bands honor the music of Amy Winehouse. Karina Denike, Midtown Social and LoCura will put a new spin on the beloved artist’s work while showcasing the diversity and talent of Bay Area music.Founded in San Francisco in 2012, Midtown Social is an original California soul, nine-piece ensemble with a mission to spread positive change through culture, art, and music. Blending soul, funk, and rock, Midtown draws on the arrangements by such family bands as Tower of Power, Sly and the Family Stone, and Chicago, while providing provocative vocals influenced by Bill Withers, Tina Turner, and En Vogue. With an eclectic community of musicians and styles, Midtown Social never fails to bring a high energy, live music dance party wherever it goes.Karina Denike is a vocalist, composer, arranger, and performer from the San Francisco Bay Area. Her original songs are comprised of snippets of torch songs, doo wop drama, Eastern European lullabies, crackly records, and girl group harmony. Denike's writing and performance credits also include fronting, touring, and recording for groups Dance Hall Crashers (MCA, Pink and Black), Jezebelle (Discovery/Warner), Mixtape, (with members of Thee Oh Sees and The Dodos), The Cottontails, Stara nova, Mr. Lonesome and The Bluebelles, 8 Legged Monster, Ralph Carney’s Serious Jass Project, and more. Denike was the musical director and performed in Undercover Presents: Bob Dylan's Highway 61 Revisited.
