Sky In Motion

Writing a biography for a band is pretty easy… in a sense. You just need to make sure you cover the following aspects: who, what, where and when. If you would try to summarize all that information in one sentence, you’d probably get something generic like: “SKY IN MOTION is a five-piece female-fronted pop-punk/post-punk collective hailing from the Antwerp region in Belgium and was founded in 2012.” Pretty bland, right? Of course, there’s a lot more to a band, and it’s no different for the guys and gal in SKY IN MOTION. After coming out of different projects, Ben Dieltiens (guitar), Pieter Van Landeghem (bass) started the band in 2012. After some changes in their line-up, they found the necessary motivation and axe-waxing skills in the form of Davy De Vusser. Together they recruited Nina Hermans after an impressive audition to fill up the vocal spot. and thus formed the backbone of SKY IN MOTION. In 2014 they switched to a new drummer that listens to the name Glenn Meiresone, and thus formed the backbone of SKY IN MOTION As far as musical direction goes, influences amongst the band members range from Tonight Alive, Paramore, Alkaline Trio to Comeback Kid, Deaf Havana and Emery. However straight-forward this may seem, the band manages to create an interesting and balanced mix of melodic pop-punk, heavier post-punk elements and solid lyrics, with the ability to get stuck in your head (and without annoying the hell out of you). In 2013, SKY IN MOTION are translating that sound onto a self-sponsored album that will be so lovingly called “Gold Ships Sink Quick”. Containing seven tracks, it is planned to come out in the summer of 2013. Now with the possibility to put their sound waves out there, SKY IN MOTION is as always looking to take on any stage or crowd, and show the world what they live for.
