The Barflies Biography

The Barflies are a six-piece Blues/Rock-n-Roll band hailing from Youngstown, Ohio. Formed in 1993 by singer Paul Sheehan, bassist Jerry Camerlengo, guitarist Gary Jones and Blues/Soul singer Tony "Bubba Louie" Richards, the band has been performing at bars and parties throughout Northeast Ohio and Western Pennsylvania for the past 20 years. Founding members Paul & Jerry were formerly members of Youngstown's Hard Luck in the mid to late 80's and Released the album Takin' On the Night on Scream Records in 1988. Newest member, Rick Deak (guitar) was formerly a member of Atlantic Records’ Sin-0-Matic who released and toured behind their self-titled cd in 2001. Jerry's son Jason Camerlengo rounds out the line-up on drums. The band released a self-produced EP in 2010 called Songs For The Empire which featured the song Broken Radio that was inspired by the book, The Buzzard: Inside the Glory Days of WMMS about the heyday of terrestrial radio in Cleveland. Author and former WMMS Program director, John Gorman had this to say about the song: “I knew The Buzzard book would spark memories of Cleveland rock and the role this region played during the seventies and eighties in the music and radio industries. What I didn’t expect was that The Buzzard and WMMS of that era would also inspire a regional band to write and record a song... ” (from John Gorman’s blog). When the band isn’t playing gigs or working their day jobs, they’re working on honing their latest brand of bluesy rock songs and planning to record in early 2015.
