BIOGRAPHY: EVK, a recording artist, performer, and songwriter from her experiences she strives to be a role model to share her views for happiness, love and honesty. “The sun will rise and the moon, it will follow . . . “ These words sung by EVK paint a picture of her background as an artist, and her independent, ever optimistic attitude toward life and musical
creation. Before graduating high school, EVK changed schools 9 different times, living in both Canada and the US before coming to call Vancouver her home. Starting to play music early in life, she competed in piano competitions against others her age. But EVK has always believed music isn’t a competition, but rather, a way for people to come together in creation of art – which is exactly what her Sweetness Showcase today is a celebration of. Music, song, and dance will combine together before you in the spirit of shared talents. The talent you hear in EVK’s music never ceases to be itself. In the past, EVK faced the many pressures of the music industry to change herself– her name, her appearance, her personality. But like her favourite musical artists Joan Jett and Debbie Harry, EVK stands strong as an independent female musician, wanting to maintain control over her image and her music. As genuine music, her songs weave together the stories of her life anew, connecting with both those who know her most closely, and those discovering her for the first time. May her words be something you keep. HISTORY by EVK: Four years ago, I was a university student studying to get into Dental school to follow my father’s footsteps. Family means a lot to me and I wanted to please everyone without looking at my own happiness. Family life deteriorated within December of 2010, my parents divorced. I moved west to help support my mom and later my sister, worked three jobs in order to keep my now smaller family a float. My aim with this career is give inspiration to everyone and to help them gain confidence that they can achieve everything their heart desires and to be happy. Skills that I have acquired through my life include; completed a five song original debut EP, Candy Pop Princess that was released February 2013 along with a music video Sugar Rush to support the sale. In 2014 I attend Pacific Audio Visual and was a signed artist to Amp Records. I released two more music videos in support of the debut EP; Starlight and Last good-bye and as a school project I remix Last goodbye. The remix was in support of Vapor environmental project with another producer artist Yt Rhymz and re-titled as ‘As I leave’ it was released with a video for this project. I have grade eight RCM piano, and grade two musical theory, and play guitar. I make numerous performances at open mics throughout Vancouver lower. Coming this year: 2015 EVK is releasing 7 song Ep with Amp Records, Called Dancing Queen Figurine, Amp Records is radio tracking EVK’s song Ballerina in a Box, with a music video and publicity photos early spring. While finishing the last two videos from the original debut Ep. The end of 2014 EVK was sponsored by Music Madhouse Records and hired a manager Rob Snopek. After graduating from the audio engineering program Sept 2014, EVK has completed two sold out showcases in which she included local performers as her opening acts. EVK Sweetness Showcase includes 2 musical sets, wardrobe changes, 4 dancing candy girls, and a full lightshow. To date EVK has two additional confirmed showcases within a month of each other. During EVK’s school year she co-produced and recorded a full length album at blue wave studios, due to be released late 2015 with a full set of music videos and a new tour. I am tired of being pushed around and ready to rock!
