Lucy Cait has found her calling. Along with her band, Lucy is injecting UK indie with a much-needed shot of adrenalin. Her sound is as influenced by turn-of-the-century pop music as it is by modern feminist alt-rock icons like Jenny Lewis and tUnE-yArDs' Merrill Garbus, and throws soaring guitars over Lucy's dry British vocals. It's the sound of music past and of music yet to come. Above all else, though, it's the sound of Young Britain. Rich, vibrant, and rising above the crumbling legacy that came before it. To say that Lucy comes from a folk background is to do her a grave disservice. Rather, her bright debut EP was a brief stop as she found her feet, and her band, and could expand her lyrical singalong anthems from acoustic guitar into a soaring live experience. Now, band in tow, Lucy's music is fully realised. Old songs are bigger, and new songs take the crowd over, jostling them about, shaking them up and leaving them with one lingering truth: Lucy Cait is not easily forgotten.
