The Roadside Biography

The Roadside formed in a basement in August of 2012. Bobby recently got a job at a music store where former member, Carson was a regular customer. The two had known each other previously but had not been in contact for several years. Carson came in while Bobby was working and the two talked about how they both wanted to form a band. They then decided to set up a practice. Bobby asked friend and former bandmate, Michael to come to the practice while Carson asked friend and former bandmate Colin to come along. The group hit it off and decided to start a band. The band takes inspiration from all over. They consider themselves a mix of alternative and indie rock. Influences are drawn from the likes of Taking Back Sunday, Brand New, You Me At Six and The Maine. After months of writing, practicing, and rehearsing, the band had finally booked its first show on April 27th, 2013 at everyone’s favorite music venue, Swayze’s in Marietta, GA. The band sold a whopping thirty tickets and played to less than a packed house. The summer of 2013 would be full of shows in and around Atlanta for the band. In August of 2013, The Roadside made their first performance at The Masquerade. By the end of the summer, The Roadside had developed a small local following and decided it was time to head into the studio and put out music. Starting in September of 2013, the band worked with producer, Kevin Sellors at American Revolution Recording, now called The Vault Recording Lounge. The work accomplished would eventually lead to the release of The Roadside’s first EP, Bridgemont. Summer Stories was the single released off of the EP in October of 2013. Bridgemont was officially released on November 5th, 2013. For the band’s first release, Bridgemont showed a strong response from popular sites such as Bandcamp and Spotify. After Bridgemont was released, the band played out heavily to promote the release. The band started 2014 off with a bang by playing two shows in January calling the event, “New Year’s Takeover.” The band played at Smith’s Olde Bar on Friday, January 3rd, and at The Masquerade on Saturday, January 4th. The event was a success with crowds over one hundred people each night. After this event, The Roadside continued to play shows heavily through the end of the spring. Itching to record new music, The Roadside decided to head back into the studio in May of 2014. This time, the band worked with producer Travis Hill at The Looking Glass Recording Studio. With a slightly heavier and more alternative sound in mind, the band worked with Travis to create the best five songs possible. By the beginning of June, the new EP was tracked. The band released two promotional videos on YouTube letting fans know about the new music. The band spent the rest of the summer preparing to release their new EP and playing shows. In September, the first single off the new EP, Found Myself was released. The new sound the band was going for is evident in the song. The EP entitled "Streetlight" was officially released on October 31st, 2014. Since the release the band has continued to play shows around the Atlanta area. In November of 2014, The Roadside signed on with Reverie Talent Group marking a huge achievement for the band. The Roadside and Reverie Talent Group are working together to take The Roadside from a local to a regional band. Starting in 2015, the band will announce show dates featuring out of state shows. In December of 2014, the band added Zach Watts to the line up making him the rhythm guitar player. In January of 2015, Carson Long announced he was leaving the band. The band is currently searching for a replacement. New EP, "Streetlight" out now. Free download at: https://theroadside.bandcamp.com/
