Ingvild Koksvik Biography
Norwegian singer-songwriter Ingvild Koksvik conjures evocative soundscapes that help the listener tune in to the searching serenity within us all. The purity of her voice has a clarity that lifts everyday stress. Haunting and atmospheric, Ingvild’s songs distills the tranquil solitude and majesty of her home in Farsund, on the windswept Lista peninsula, into a very Norwegian soul. “The wind is almost always blowing, and the sea is sometimes kind, sometimes dangerous; there are hundreds of shipwrecks around the coast here.” she says. “I think living here affects the way I make music, and my sound.” Ingvild’s most personal music yet, “Og sangen kom fra havet,” follows her debut album devoted to the works of Norwegian poet Rolf Jacobsen. “Nattåpent”’s airy singing and ancient folk instrumentation captured the fragile emotions of Jacobsen’s verse, with Ingvild’s own limpid intensity. On ”Og sangen kom fra havet”, Ingvild has sensitively expanded her sound. The recording sessions were set to Studio G Brooklyn, New York, with the four-time Grammy-nominated Joel Hamilton as the producer. Her home team is Lars Jakob Rudjord on keyboards and cellist Katrine Schiøtt. Extra New York flavour comes from Marc Ribot’s guitar on ”Og sangen kom fra havet”, ”Den stilleste dagen” and ”Mathilde,” Michael Jinno’s guitar on “Hjemme nå,” and Tony Maimone’s bass on ”Noe bedre”. https://goo.gl/MOsldC
