Billy Lord Biography

“Riches to rags” is the real-life story behind Nashville’s hot new recording artist Billy Lord. The promising up and comer began playing, writing and singing just a few short years ago while homeless in New York City. High rises, Range Rovers and a house on the waterfront were objects of a different lifetime. A casualty of economic recession and corporate downsizing, he found a new calling of music with a “Route 66” free spirit and altruistic sense of awareness. On a donated Harley, Billy played across the US filling his time with sold out laundromats shows, couch surfing, backyard parties and public park performances built his extremely loyal grassroots fan base. Billy Lord lit his path on fire in 2012 with his debut album, American Music. Right out of the gate, the album was credited "one of the 10 best rock albums of 2012," and his single “Fighting Back” was voted Best Rock Song of 2012 by online voters in the YouTube Rising Stars competition. The video and single "On a Summer Night" gained Billy radio play and recognition in the country music genre. National Anthem, Billy's second album, was released in 2015 earning him a Top 40 Country radio single “Steal the Evening Sky” (duet with Carly Jo Jackson). The song also spent four weeks at #1 on The Iceman's syndicated New Country Artist Chart. National Anthem, written during a solo cross country motorcycle tour of six months and 12,000 miles, placed Billy on the ballot for Grammy consideration in three categories in 2015. In February of 2015, Billy reached the #1 country artist spot on ReverbNation. In early 2016, Billy moved to Nashville. His talent, engaging appeal and kind manner opened songwriting session doors for him with some of Nashville’s best writers, including Kirsti Manna (Austin, Blake Shelton). He has songs being pitched to him by acclaimed writers Kevin Rowe, Ryan Griffin, Clay Mills and Susan Giacona which are being considered for his upcoming ep. The most recent single “Netflix and Chill” was recorded on Music Row in Nashville and broke into the Top 100 on the Music Row Country Chart in July of 2016. Billy supported the “Netflix and Chill” single with a 4,000-mile ride radio tour on his Harley playing the song live at more than 20 radio stations and performing at Harley dealerships across the country. The single also placed Billy on the ballot for Grammy consideration for Best Country Song. Simultaneously, Billy and his veteran friend Zack Brown visited veterans suffering from PTSD and their families. At each radio station during Billy’s interview, Zack had a minute to speak on Veterans with PTSD to raise awareness on a cause Billy passionately supports. Most recently, Billy and his band have headlined at The Wild Horse in Nashville and at Opryland. He has opened for Uncle Kracker, Aaron Lewis, Eric Church (NY State Fair pre-show party) and has shared a bill with Mary Sarah and Adam Wakefield of The Voice, and Tristan McIntosh of American Idol. Billy is expected to release his second single “Rise” along with a new ep in early Spring 2017. His growing reputation as a "must see" live performer among Music City's highly competitive and populated music scene have Nashville insiders buzzing about a breakthrough year for Billy Lord. www.billylordmusic.com
