Fir Bolg

FIR BOLG is a band whose lyrics bring back our history before the Christian era, a time of Celtic myths and legends. The musical universe is dark and old school Black Metal, with a little acoustic folk touch sometimes. At first, FIR BOLG started in 2006, as a one-man band, by Dagoth. In 2008 FIR BOLG self produced 500 copies of the demo recording called « Paganism » with the session drummer Artgath (ex-Assacrentis, Anthropia, Consume the Fire). Dagoth then formed a live session line-up: Abaddon/drums ( Assacrentis/ Scornforger) - Necrokiller/bassguitar ( Necromantic) - Sigurd/vocals – Dagoth/guitare/Backing vocals. In June 2009, FIR BOLG joined Schwarzdorn Production, which released 1000 Mini CDs of “Paganism” with a new cover artwork, layout and packaging. Fir Bolg got therefore promoted on a European scale. In September 2011,FIR BOLG set foot in some studios to work on the first album: « Towards Ancestral Lands ». At the Deaf Lab Studio in Monaco Dagoth recorded vocals, acoustic guitars, and olifant lines, and Abaddon played drums and bodhran. At the Permafrost Studio in Nice, Dagoth recorded guitars and bass lines. From Los Angeles' Omen Recording Studio, Damien Rainaud took charge of the mix and reamping. Finally, running February 2012, Markus Stock (Empyrium, The Vision Bleak) mastered the whole album from the Klangschmiede Studio E in Germany. On 06/21/2013, « Towards Ancestral Lands » is released internationally, and is very much acclaimed by the critics. At the end of 2013, Dagoth decides to strengthen the band's unity by adding two live session musicians. Abaddon and Necrokiller become permanent members, followed by Karnyx as live singer, Dagoth still remaining in charge of the vocals on the albums to come. After a 3 year break from the stage, FIR BOLG returns to live shows in April 2014. FRANÇAIS: FIR BOLG est un groupe à l’univers païen, où les paroles, basées sur l’histoire de nos ancêtres avant l’époque du christianisme, et des mythes et légendes celtiques, côtoient une ambiance musicale sombre et old school black métal, avec parfois une touche acoustique folk. A sa création en 2006, FIR BOLG naît en tant que one-man-Band avec Dagoth, qui enregistre avec Artgath, ( ex Assacrentis, Anthropia, Consume the fire ) batteur de session studio, la démo « Paganism » autoproduite à 500 exemplaires en 2008. Dagoth monte ensuite un line up de session live : Abaddon/batterie ( Assacrentis/ Scornforger) - Necrokiller/basse ( Necromantic) - Sigurd/voix – Dagoth/guitare/Backing vocals. FIR BOLG effectue alors ses premières prestations scéniques à travers la France, afin de promouvoir le mini cd. En Juin 2009 FIR BOLG rejoint les rangs du label Schwarzdorn Production, qui réalise 1000 exemplaires du mini cd Paganism avec un nouveau visuel, et packaging, afin d’effectuer une plus large promotion Européenne. En Septembre 2011, FIR BOLG entre en studio afin d’enregistrer son premier album « Towards ancestral lands ». Au Deaf Lab Studio à Monaco, Le chant, les guitares sèches, et l’olifant sont enregistrées par Dagoth, puis la batterie et le bodhran sont joués par Abaddon. Au Permafrost Studio à Nice, Dagoth enregistre les guitares et la basse. A l' Omen Recording Studio de Los Angeles, le mixage et le réamping sont effectués par Damien Rainaud. Enfin, courant février 2012 au Klangschmiede Studio E en Allemagne., l’album est masterisé par Markus Stock (Empyrium, The Vision Bleak). Le 21/06/2013 l’album « Towards ancestral lands » est distribué internationalement, et reçoit dés sa sortie de très bonnes critiques. Fin 2013 Dagoth décide de renforcer l’unité de FIR BOLG en intégrant les deux membres de session live Abaddon et Necrokiller comme membres permanents, suivi de Karnyx en tant que chanteur live, Dagoth souhaitant néanmoins continuer à assurer les parties chants sur les futurs albums. Après trois ans d’absence scénique, le groupe reprend les concerts en Avril 2014.
