October is shaping up to be a very special month for James Morgan Jazz. On Wednesday, October 21, the James Morgan Jazz Quartet returns to The Roxy in Encinitas for Wine Wednesday and three hours of Contemporary Jazz, Jazz Fusion, Smooth Jazz, original music and jazz favorites. At the same time, we are proud to share that two James Morgan Jazz recordings have been submitted for GRAMMY® consideration in the Best Contemporary Instrumental Song category: “Frequency of Love” “Wes Coast Smooth” First Round Voting takes place October 12 through October 22, 2026, making our October 21 performance at The Roxy an especially meaningful evening for us. “Frequency of Love” was composed around the idea that love can transcend distance. Inspired by two people separated by an ocean, the composition expresses that connection through melody, emotion and the idea of an invisible frequency capable of reaching across continents. “Wes Coast Smooth” represents another side of James Morgan Jazz. Built around a laid-back West Coast groove, the recording brings together Contemporary Jazz, Smooth Jazz, melody and the interaction of four musicians playing together as a band. Both recordings feature: James Morgan, Guitar Chase Pado, Piano Nathan Brown, Bass Tres Hodgens, Drums And on October 21, we'll bring that same spirit of melody, groove and musicianship to The Roxy stage. JAMES MORGAN JAZZ QUARTET James Morgan, Guitar Joseph Luna, Piano Cecil McBee Jr., Bass Tres Hodgens, Drums Wednesday, October 21, 2026 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM The Roxy Encinitas, California We'll be performing music spanning the James Morgan Jazz catalog, including original compositions, Contemporary Jazz, Smooth Jazz, Jazz Fusion and our interpretations of timeless jazz favorites.
