Artist bio
The Ancient Unknown are a band of inter-dimensional scoundrels who currently reside in London, Earth.
Through their travels in the ether they have melded together genres of music from different eras into a fusion rock troop that defies easy categorisation, being acknowledged on this domain for their wild and outlandish stage dynamic they are:
Dob on drums and snoring Dan G on bass, Antz from the nest nebula on the keys, Jordan Divers of planet thundermist on guitar, and Spin of Cephalopoda on vox and guitar.
Have played throughout the UK including the O2 Islington, The Black Heart and The Record Factory in Glasgow, they have recorded their Debut Album at the invite of Steel City Studios (Bring Me The Horizon, Death Havana) including this single, Separated.
The first two tracks, Animals and Separated, of the album have been released to critical acclaim garnering international airplay and reviews including Kerrang!
As they prepare to release their next tracks and shape up the schedule for their album they continue to encapsulate audiences with what are described by fans as 'expansive', 'transcendent' and 'connective' experiences.
Media reviews-
There’s something irresistibly primal and magnetically powerful about this composition from this 5-piece band, The Ancient Unknown.
Separated’ features some excellent guitar performances. Solos that draw the line between classic hard rock with modern sensibilities. It’s everything you’d love to hear as a rock/grunge listener in 2026.
a sound that feels both classic and fresh, like a rebellious echo from multiple musical dimensions colliding at once.
With Separated, The Ancient Unknown prove that rock can still be bold, imaginative, and socially aware. Cc cc l
True to the band’s name, their sound has a mystery to them, almost like an archaic secret that is full of legends and myths.
the result is an exhilaration and an emotional depth that is truly fantastical
guitar solos are lengthy and profound journey
Instead of recreating a past era, the band fuse gritty grunge textures with subtle classic rock undercurrents, shaping a hybrid sound that feels grounded yet forward-moving
At the center stands a striking vocal performance. The timbre is distinctive and expressive, cutting through the instrumental layers with a tone that feels both raw and controlled
But it is Spin's vocal performance that anchors everything. A frontman performing political outrage risks coming across as either insufferably sanctimonious or naively sincere. Spin walks the tightrope with admirable sureness of foot. He sounds genuinely furious, not fashionably so. The distinction matters enormously.
suspenseful vibe permeates the room, while the final passage, in particular, explodes with pure intensity.
The vocal timbre stands out as a defining element. It’s original and unmistakable, cutting through the instrumental layers with character. The delivery feels sincere and charged with emotion. At times, the performance carries a dystopian edge, adding a dramatic layer that elevates the song beyond straightforward rock. The chorus expands into an almost epic register, reinforcing the track’s emotional impact.
The guitars carry weight and grit. Each chord progression feels intentional, and the rhythm section drives forward with confidence. The balance between heaviness and melody keeps the track engaging. There’s tension in the arrangement, but it never collapses into chaos. That control suggests seasoned musicians who understand dynamics
raw, unhinged and absolutely stunning, and this would exactly convey how versatile the group is and how with every track they just get better and better.
