Phoenix emo band Breakeven’s “Inch by Inch” is an anxious, hook-heavy pop-punk song about overthinking every small choice until the walls close in. Tiny regrets (a penny left on the ground, a cart not pushed in) build into a spiral that admits “my confidence is equivalent to the amount of sleep I get,” then erupts into an all too relatable question: “is this as good as it gets.” For fans of Hot Mulligan, Taking Back Sunday and Real Friends. Release week includes Mesa Music Fest on Oct 17.
