About this concert

Post Coal Prom Queen will be performing their new album - Music for Nuclear Semiotics / Ceòl airson Samhlaidhean Niùclasach - in full along with their collaborators Josie Duncan, Evie Waddell, Colin Stone (Gun Ghaol), and Alasdair Whyte. This album represents the band’s musing on the conundrum of nuclear semiotics through the lens of Scottish folklore and the Gaelic language. Following in the same vein as their previous releases, Music for Nuclear Semiotics puts Scottish language and culture in a setting it is not often associated with - the distant future. Is it possible to create a message that will last 10,000 years? Will language, or humans, even survive that long? Music for Nuclear Semiotics combines elements of trip hop, art rock, metal, folk and post-rock to create distinctive soundscapes which bring to life the mysteries and complexities of the themes they explore. By collaborating with four immensely talented Gaelic-speaking vocalists from around Scotland, PCPQ has created a bilingual release that takes the band, their guests, and Scottish music into unexplored territory. PCPQ chose the Gaelic language for this project due to its enduring spirit in the face of historical persecution and erasure. If Gaelic can survive this long and experience a resurgence in the 21st century, perhaps it may outlive us all and protect whoever, or whatever, comes after us. Music for Nuclear Semiotics will be available on streaming services on 20/11/2026 and on CD from 23/11/2026 at the album launch.

“throbbing, frantic (in a good way) and utterly infectious...frankly, they've never sounded better” – The Skinny

“They crystallize a vivid miniature world as delicate as a snowglobe” - SNACK

“It practically scorches into being on the back of dark industrial synths like a bomber raid, pulls back the curtain on some thrumming melodicism, and entrusts Lily to siren-song you towards a distant light” - Backseat Mafia

"Unrelenting, impressive stuff" - God Is In The TV
