Maxi!

Moving between f-art pop, dance, cabaret and performance, Maxi! turns desire, heartbreak, shame and bodily excess into songs that are playful, theatrical and unapologetically physical. Sex can turn into sadness, a breakup can be flushed down the toilet, and a fart can become an act of honesty. Maxi! is a musical project initiated by Belgian theatre maker and performer **Maxime Dreesen**. After creating performances about intimacy, sexuality and the politics of the body, Dreesen brings that practice into pop music, allowing theatre and music to flow into one another. On stage, the line between concert and performance blurs as Maxi! keeps searching for a new opening. The debut album *ANALBUM* grew out of a close creative collaboration between musician and producer **Benne Dousselaere** and Maxime Dreesen. They made the songs together, with Dousselaere producing the album. The album takes the anus as an unexpected starting point, a place that receives, releases and transforms. Across eight songs, shit becomes compost, grief turns into pleasure, love escapes possession, and letting go proves far more difficult than it sounds.
