THE ACOUSTICAL SOUNDS OF GORDIE JOHNSON
ONE MAN BIG SUGAR SHOW
Mr. Johnson brings his massive, well known and highly influential song book to life in this one man acoustic performance drenched in the blues and folk music with his signature reggae
overtones that inspired his Big Sugar catalog. Singing his modern classics “Turn The Lights” and
“Ride Like Hell”, the Newfoundland anthem “All Hell For A Basement” and even classics he’s
written for other artists like “Highway Of Heroes”.
Gordie Johnson has entertained a loyal army of fans online with anecdotes from his storied
career: encounters with The Rolling Stones, ZZ Top, RUSH, heroes and villains. Tales of triumph
and disaster told with his impeccable comedic timing, the One Man Big Sugar Show now brings
all of this live to the stage.
Big Sugar’s highly successful album and sold-out album tour for “Yardstyle The Acoustical
Sounds of Big Sugar” had a full stage of band members. “This will be a far more intimate
presentation.” says GJ, “Come on in my kitchen and I’ll cook us up a mess of tunes.” We can
see the ingredients as they go in the pot… and cook he does. Acoustic Blues served up by one
of Canada’s all time great guitarists, GJ’s sardonic wit also makes for an evening of irreverent
laughter and a truly memorable experience.

What fans are saying
The show was excellent. Very up beat and high energy. The venue was great. We sat in the 3rd row of the balcony and had an excellent view of the stage. 1st time to this venue and will be back again sometime soon. Big Sugar played 2 sets and an encore.
Staff were great at helping us upon entry and directing us to where the washrooms were and how to get to our seats in the balcony. Snacks were reasonably priced.
Overall a wonderful experience. Even parking near by in a covered parking lot. Also at a reasonable price.
5 stars for sure all the way around, to the venue, staff, and the Big Sugar performers.
