Artist bio
Blending the improvisational language of jazz with an ever-expanding palette of acoustic and electric sounds, Pawel Ignatowicz is a New York City-based guitarist, composer, educator, and music producer originally from Żywiec, Poland. His music draws from jazz, rock, world music, and contemporary instrumental traditions, combining lyrical composition with adventurous improvisation and an ongoing exploration of sound, texture, and timbre.
A graduate of the University of Silesia with a Master’s Degree in Music specializing in jazz guitar, Ignatowicz has performed at renowned venues including The Django, 55 Bar, Blues Alley, and Chris' Jazz Café, as well as at the United Nations in New York and the Greenpoint Jazz Festival. He has collaborated with artists including Ari Hoenig, Matt Penman, Ferenc Nemeth, Mark Whitfield Jr., Adam Bałdych, and Piotr Wyleżoł, and has released two albums as a leader: Talk To You Later (2008) and Here and Now (2017).
