About this concert
1:00 PM EST2 Going
From Nashville, Jay Bragg's beloved "Christmas in New Vaudeville" returns to The Burren in Somerville, MA bringing The Merriest Show On Earth — now in its 6th annual year — to his home base of New England. Jay, whose grandparents performed in 1930s vaudeville, transforms into bandleader King Kazoo from the North Pole, adorned in his signature bright red frock coat, top hat, brass kazoo, and a dose of whimsy that only the Wizard of Whimsy can muster — leading The Reindeer Band through a joyful, theatrical night of original and holiday music built for the whole family. Equal parts vaudeville throwback and Christmas spectacle, this is a holiday show like you've never experienced and will never forget.

JAY BRAGG'S NEW VAUDEVILLE - "The Wizard of Whimsy"
What if the antidote to our cynically divided age was hiding in a dusty trunk of forgotten entertainment magic? Nashville's Jay Bragg has cracked the code, transforming from country credentials to cultural curator with "Jay Bragg's New Vaudeville" - sophisticated variety entertainment that proves America's greatest entertainment tradition isn't dead, just waiting for the right wizard to bring it back.
The Artistic Evolution
After eight years establishing Nashville credibility - Alan Jackson tours, Chris Stapleton collaborations, 13 studio albums - Bragg discovered his authentic calling wasn't chasing conventional success, but creating what he calls "circus jazz medicine shows." When his father's cancer diagnosis (now successfully treated) crystallized the family mission to "carry the torch and keep bringing joy to people who need it most," Jay's hospice volunteer work revealed entertainment's true power: not just performance, but healing.
Cultural Medicine for Modern Times
As the "Wizard of Whimsy," Jay creates big tent experiences where socialites and misfits discover they're part of the same joyful conspiracy against algorithmic exhaustion. Each performance weaves original Tin Pan Alley-inspired compositions, carefully curated variety performers, and audience participation that creates temporary family among strangers. This is sophisticated rebellion for people who refuse to settle for mediocrity.
"You'll walk away playing your kazoo and wondering why it took so long to revive the magic of the variety show."
