I last saw Ani in Berkeley way back in October 1996. 30 years later, I was finally able to see her again —what a privilege, what a blessing! She is a pioneer, a rebel, a goddess, and a sage. To steal from her own lyrics, she really is a wise woman AND a giggling girl. I was on the floor near the very front of the stage with my 18 year-old-daughter. Our ears were ringing. Our bodies were vibrating from the sound. And we were moved to tears by her guitar playing, her supportive, amazing band, her spirit, and her lyrics. Those lyrics remain so real and so true to this very day. There is nothing more magical than to feel like a joyful girl with one’s own daughter. And that’s exactly how I felt. Thank you, Ani.
