Artist bio
Robo are a four-piece art-rock band from York who have always run their own race. Slightly too arty to be indie and slightly too poppy to be conventional art-rock, they make catchy, emotional songs that can take an unexpected turn without losing their melodic instinct.
With three vocalists and multiple songwriters, Robo’s music brings together different personalities and perspectives through intertwining guitars, unorthodox harmonies and big melodic hooks. Catchy, emotional, sophisticated but still sometimes childish, their songs pull you in with something familiar before taking you somewhere you didn’t expect.
Frank Garcia-Luengo and Eric Wolf Bell have been writing together since they were three years old, later joined by Holly Brewer and James Paton to complete the lineup. Since forming in 2023, Robo have sold out two York headline shows, completed two UK tours and built a growing audience across the UK.
Now signed to Gary Powell’s 25 Hour Convenience Store, Robo are entering their next chapter with new music produced by Powell at the Albion Rooms in Margate. Their latest single, Claw Machine, received BBC Radio 6 Music airplay from Chris Hawkins, who called it his “new favourite thing from an exciting new band.”
