Soloist: Anthony Ratinov, piano
We bring our season to a rousing close with the world premiere of the Concerto for Orchestra by American Composer Russell Platt. We surround this arresting new concerto with two other concertos, featuring two young American pianists. To begin, the dramatic first movement of Mendelssohn's sparkling G-Minor Piano Concerto with this year's winner of our Chapman Memorial Competition; and to finish, the grandeur of Rachmaninov's lush and romantic Second Piano Concerto, with a soloist who can truly make it sing - the young Russian-American Anthony Ratinov.
Mendelssohn: Piano Concerto in G Minor
Russell Platt: Concerto for Orchestra
Rachmaninov: Piano Concerto No.2
