Orchidae

Orchidae is the solo project of Yolande Laroche, a queer Canadian Taiwanese artist based in Gatineau, Quebec. Known for blending her classical music training with avant-pop innovation, Orchidae creates a deeply personal sound that is equally intimate and confident. Her debut album True Beginning, out April 4th 2025 with Birthday Cake Records, marks the start of Yolande’s songwriting as she explores themes of self-discovery, transformation, and embracing change. Through her music, Laroche channels the symbolism of the orchid flower (her Mandarin namesake) — resilient and multifaceted — reflecting her journey of personal growth and artistic evolution.
