Join us for a very special second birthday celebration of The Blue Lantern Sessions at Storyhouse. Over the past two years, this much loved series has grown into a unique live music experience, with numerous sell out shows and unforgettable nights in the fairy lit Garret Theatre. More than a gig, it has become a gathering for artists and audiences to share in the intimacy and magic of live acoustic music. Georgia Ruth Hailing from Aberystwyth in West Wales, Georgia Ruth has established herself as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary folk music. Blending traditional influences with poetic songwriting and rich melodies, her acclaimed debut album Week of Pines won the Welsh Music Prize and earned two BBC Radio 2 Folk Award nominations. Panedeni North Wales based Panedeni blends Arabic and Welsh music to create a distinctive folk-fusion sound. Sung in four languages, their vibrant music ranges from belly dance rhythms to Welsh border pipes, combining original music with reimagined folk styles. Most recently, Panedeni appeared at the Llangollen International Eisteddfod.

Artist bio
Panedeni—a unique musical ensemble whose name fuses the Welsh phrase, Paned, for a "cup of tea" with Adeni tea from Aden, Yemen.

Panedeni is about expanding horizons and crossing cultural borders, blurring the lines between Eastern and Western folk music and focussing on collaboration with amazing individuals to bring their unique experiences to the forefront of an exciting musical project.

Fronted by Yasmine Latkowski, we bring together a rich tapestry of Middle Eastern, English, and Welsh influences to create a vibrant, multicultural mix of original music. Yasmine’s captivating vocals are complemented by a diverse group of musicians: Tim Eastwood on Welsh bagpipes and violin, Reuben Allen on bass, Joelle Barker and John Ramm on percussion, Katie Stevens on woodwind, and Sam Slater on guitar and oud. Together, we weave a mesmerising blend of Eastern and Western folk traditions, which has been seen at Focus Wales 2024, Llangollen International Eisteddfod, Wrexfest 2024 with Akram Abdulfattah and Llangollen Fringe Festival.

Supported by Arts Council Wales, we are dedicated to composing music that bridges Welsh and Arabic languages and musical influence. We are collaborating with musicians across the country and borders from Wales to Egypt. Songwriting collaborations have already included contributions in Welsh from Sion Rickard of LoFi Jones and rising star Ayoub Boukhalfa who brings a message of love in the face brutality in the Middle East.
