J. Plank (Jeff Plankenhorn)

J. Plank (formerly Jeff Plankenhorn) is a BC-based singer-songwriter, guitarist and lap steel player whose music blends roots, blues, soul and folk. After two decades in Austin, Texas, he now calls Vancouver Island home and tours throughout North America and Europe.

His new single, “The Closer,” is out now, previewing a new album recorded with The Southern Aces in the Netherlands, with additional sessions in Texas — including an upcoming duet with Ruthie Foster. Much of the record was cut live in the room with few overdubs, bringing Plank back to blues and roots rock with a raw, contemporary edge.

Known for soulful vocals, deep groove and his signature lap steel, “The Plank,” J. Plank’s shows move easily between intimate storytelling and full-throttle roots music.
