LIGHT EATER are a dual-bass sludge/noise four-piece from Brisbane/Meanjin that make music to soundtrack the absurdities of the end times. Stoner, doom and sludge meet shoegaze, industrial and noise in a primordial amalgam of atmospheric riffs and screeching leads. Their debut EP AUTOTROPHISM, out on 26 August 2026, covers broad ground with a statement of camaraderie: whether you're lamenting the cost of living, dropping your weed in the carpet, or being cursed by a witch, we see you, we’ve been there, and we share your struggles. Powered by two bass guitars and tied together with the push-pull dynamics and progressive structures of post-metal, expect a wall of noise that veers between aggressive and playful, atmospheric and chaotic, primal and profane. Just don't expect subtlety. Prepare for squalls of pitch-shifted bass leads and crushing low end rumble, off-kilter, effects-processed vocals and riffs thicker than the tar in a pack-a-day smoker’s lungs. Not for the faint of heart, and not recommended for those already hard of hearing, LIGHT EATER are loud, proud, and bringing a distinctive new sound to the Brisbane metal scene.
