About this concert
7:00 PM PDT
Join us to gather around 'From the Perspective of earth' - a wordless, genreless expression of the planets by sonic visionary Elly Kace. Shoes off. Lying down. This is an immersive ritual around the practice of active listening in community. The night starts with a live, 30 minute sound bath. A chamber ensemble of local musicians channels while you lie on the floor, fully receiving, exactly where you are. Then we will experience the full sensory experience of Kace's newest 40-minute album, From the Perspective of Earth, together complete with active listening zine. One song/page per planet, genreless and wordless, drifting from total ambient stillness into fully danceable grooves and back again. You will have a chance to purchase a limited edition physical listening zine designed by Elly Kace to explore during the listening session. It contains unconventional graphic scores to follow or scribble on, somatic prompts to notice what's happening in your body as each planet moves through the room, and blank space for your own thoughts as they come up. The night wraps with a short reception, a soft landing to talk, integrate, and reconnect with the people you just shared a floor with before heading back out into earthly life. Created by composer and sound healer Elly Kace, this experience is limited to an intimate number of participants. Events like it have already sold out similar runs in Manhattan, Chicago, and Brooklyn, with people showing up in cozy socks and leaving genuinely changed. Tickets are limited, grab yours before this one sells out. Sliding Scale tickets are available. Pay less if you need the community to hold you, pay more if you would like to support someone in need.

Artist bio
Rooted in the community-building power of music, Brooklyn based singer and composer Elly Kace loosened the grip on her acclaimed opera career during lockdown, taking an unconventional leap into composition and production. Enhancing her voice through dense layering and electronic effects, experimenting with synthesizers, drum machines and sound healing instruments, she began to build a sound that could seamlessly oscillate between classical and mainstream musical textures.

This resulted in her debut pop album, Nothing I see means anything, a densely conceptual and boundary-pushing collection of songs that explored her meditative, introspective, and danceable side. But with her latest full-length, Object Permanence, her songs have become deeply personal and yearning. It’s an encapsulation of her ceaseless willingness to be pushed to new creative heights, all while excavating her grief and turning it into something healing and stunning.

Kace has been singing professionally since age 6 appearing with artists including Bobby McFerrin, Theaster Gates, Celine Dion, David Foster in venues such as National Sawdust, Ravinia, Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. Her voice has been featured in multiple movies and tv shows, including the feature films “The Farewell”, “Goodnight Mommy” (Naomi Watts), “Maestro” (Bradley Cooper), and “Expats” (Nicole Kidman).

Her creative efforts have already included major talents such as Ziyad Asrar (Whitney), Will Miller (Resavoir and Whitney), Jay Rudolph (Weyes Blood), Colin Croom (Twin Peaks), Alex Weston (The Farewell, Expats), Franky Rousseau and Dominic Mekky (Chris Thile, Emma Frank), Jack Broza (Forager), Isaac Levien (Altus), Aaron Edgcomb (CLAK), Erika Dohi, Macie Stewart, Lia Kohl, and more.
