Cypress Key

Cypress Key is the latest project from New Orleans born resident musician Mazz. After a decade in NYC, Mazz returned home to chronicle life growing up in NOLA through tales of laughter and joy, as well as the harsh reality of life in the deep south. Cypress Key currently consists of Mazz on all instruments with Darren Blanchard and Lisanne on vocals. All songs written and produced by Mazz.

Cypress Key is not just another creative endeavor for Mazz. After a decade of establishing himself in New York City's music underground, he returned home to the Crescent City with a mission to document his heritage and the moments that shaped him during his upbringing in the deep South. With "Monday Afternoon," he delivers on that vision by spinning a tale that is both intimate and universal. Cypress Key draws on many parts of Mazz's diverse background, albeit given shape with a reflective quality. You can feel decades of experimentation congealing into a sound that's warm, earthy, and deeply tied to storytelling. - ZillionsMagazine

As the first release from Cypress Key, “Monday Afternoon” serves as both an introduction to Mazz’s music and a celebration of culture. It emphasizes that these small Southern traditions are important, worth remembering, and that music can help keep them alive. With this single, Cypress Key revives the past. If “Monday Afternoon” is any indication, Cypress Key is about celebrating traditions and moving them forward, one melody at a time. - LandonBuford
