Ray Arnold & Junction Band Biography

The band was originally started back in October 1977, in Junction, Texas by Arnold Tamez and Arturo Zuniga after splitting from a Spanish pop band named Abrazo. They were shortly joined by Roland Tamez and named the band The Junction Band since they had made their new start in that town. All through the 70's and 80's the band, for the most part, was country with a little bit of rock mixed in. The 90’s saw changes in members and also in the music. The band started expanding the repertoire to include Tejano and Conjunto. In 1996, Arnold’s son, Ray Arnold Tamez, joined the band as the sound engineer, but was soon on stage sharing the lead vocals with his dad. The band was renamed Arnold & Junction Band and their popularity soared in the Harlingen area. The new millennium brought continued local success and also the release of two LP’s, “Best Friends” and “El Asesino”. In 2014, after numerous health ailments, Arnold Tamez, founding member of the band, passed away. The torch was then passed on to Arnold’s son, Ray. The band was renamed Ray Arnold & Junction Band and continued the same format that helped grow the band’s popularity; playing the best variety in live music.
