Artist bio
Violeta García is a cellist, composer, and improviser whose musical voice moves beyond genre. After years studying classical and popular cello and later contemporary composition and improvisation, she developed a practice built on extended techniques, prepared instruments, and unconventional rhythmic and melodic combinations, delivered through intense live performance.

She holds an MA in Music Composition Creative Practice from the Hochschule der Künste Bern (HKB, Switzerland). Her work has been supported by Pro Helvetia, Ibermúsicas, the Williams Foundation, Rudolf von Tobel, and Kultur Stadt Zürich, enabling international residencies including Konvent-Zero (ES), Art Omi (US), Art Basel (CH/AR), and FNA (AR). She also fronts the noise riot postpunk band Blanco Teta.

Having relocated to Switzerland almost four years ago, García has toured extensively across Europe and beyond, solo, in collaborations (including with Swiss artist Hora Lunga duo), and with Blanco Teta, performing at museums, theaters, and festivals such as Rewire Festival (NL), Fusion Festival (DE), Roskilde (DK), Les Trans Musicales (FR), Le Guess Who? (NL), Moers Festival (DE), KillBi (CH), Dampfzentrale and Gessnerallee Theatres (CH), Silent Green (DE), and dozens more across Switzerland, Germany, the UK, Italy, Slovakia, Portugal, Belgium, US, Asia and Latin America.

She is currently touring her third solo album, IN/OUT (LP, Bongo Joe Records), taking her for the first time to countries across the Global South — including her debut in Asia — alongside new collaborations across Latin America (Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia).
