Artist bio
Burial Ruthless is an extreme metal band with strong influences from modern Death Metal, Technical Death Metal, Brutal Death Metal, as well as elements of black, groove, and progressive metal. The band was founded in 2015 in Maturín, Venezuela, and is currently based in Barcelona, Spain. Guitarist Victor Figueroa, the band's founder, reactivated the project in Spain in 2016 after a complex migration process.
Burial Ruthless is known for its aggressive and fast-paced riffs, frenetic atmospheres, technical passages, intricate guitar and bass solos, and a guttural vocal style with a wide range of nuances, creating a distinctive and modern sound.
Since its inception, Burial Ruthless has undergone several lineup changes, collaborating with musicians from different backgrounds. The band gained momentum with the release of the EP Human’s Death Pathology in 2019, later redistributed by Narcoleptica Productions in 2020. After a period of lineup adjustments, the project was reactivated in 2023 with the addition of Hector Lavid on drums and Helios Ferrer on bass. In February 2025, Sergio Ortiz joined as rhythm guitarist, completing the current lineup.
Current Lineup:
Victor Figueroa – Guitar and vocals
Hector Lavid – Drums
Helios Ferrer – Bass
Sergio Ortiz – Rhythm guitar
Burial Ruthless is currently working on a full-length album set for release in 2025 while performing in various concerts across Spain and preparing for international shows. In October 2024, the band released BLACKHEART, a single that marked a fresh and refined approach in composition, intensity, and technical execution. The track, written by Victor Figueroa with contributions from both past and present members, explores the philosophy of those who inflict harm upon others, portraying dark and unsettling thoughts and actions.
On December 11, 2024, the band released NATIONAL AUTOPSY, a single featuring controversial artwork that sparked public attention, particularly in Venezuela. The cover, designed by Venezuelan artist Andrés Seballo, references the 2010 exhumation of Simón Bolívar, a politically charged event that caused widespread debate. Musically, NATIONAL AUTOPSY blends elements of Brutal Death Metal, Technical Death Metal, and progressive influences, with an acoustic intro reminiscent of bands like Opeth.
