Hippolyte was born in 2018 in Beausoleil, on the border with Monaco.
Hippolyte is a group of musician friends, a place, a fallen princess, but also a critical perspective on the world and its history.
It’s about the desire to come together to make and write music, to address social, historical, and introspective topics — but above all, to share moments of joy, humor, and creativity without ever taking ourselves too seriously.
Each member brings their own skills to the group (sound, visuals, recording, lyrics, inspiration) — it’s all homemade!
We all have musical pasts and presents that we wanted to combine to bring our personal touch to the metal universe:

Geo, our singer-guitarist, is a former member of various bands, ranging from industrial metal to the most extreme forms of metal.

Aurel, our bassist, is a member of Fantom (a Ghost tribute band) and former bassist of Nohellia.

Luca was the drummer for Dirge and Penumbrial Orb (1990–2000).

Fred, our lead guitarist, is experiencing his first time in a band. His melodic death metal influences add a melodic touch to the songs.

Marie, after studying piano at the Nice conservatory, joined several lyrical ensembles in the Alpes-Maritimes.

All these very diverse experiences, along with our wide range of influences (Iron Maiden, Slayer, Amon Amarth, Children of Bodom, Trivium, In Flames, classical music…) make Hippolyte a melodic death metal band that’s quite melodic — but still pretty brutal.
