About this concert
1:30 PM CST2 Going
Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, with its iconic four-note motif, stands as a powerful testament to the resilience of the human spirit. Strauss’ Burlesque — written when the composer was just 21 — makes the perfect pairing, dazzling with pianistic fireworks and mischievous energy. The piece has become a calling card for rising pianist Mao Fujita, who performs it “with the maturity of someone twice his age” (Bachtrack).

What fans are saying
I came to Chicago from Edinburgh just for this concert! Klaus is my favourite conductor, I have seen him working with ROC, Oslo, LSO, Berlin Phil and O Paris, but this is my first time watching him working with CSO. I’m thrilled with the performance, thought the orchestra was one with the conductor (I was at 25/4 concert). Many congratulations!
