K & K Philharmoniker

Founded in 2002 by Matthias Georg Kendlinger and his wife Larissa, the K&K Philharmoniker continue the rich musical tradition of the golden age of the Danube Monarchy. Each year, this renowned orchestra performs around 100 concerts across Europe, appearing at prestigious venues such as the Herkulessaal at the Munich Residenz, the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, the Tonhalle Düsseldorf, the concert halls of Berlin, Stockholm, Madrid, Oslo, Paris, and Copenhagen, as well as the Musikverein in Vienna.

More than 30 CD recordings and concert DVDs showcase a selection from the orchestra’s wide-ranging repertoire, including works by Beethoven, Mozart, Dvořák, Tchaikovsky, Wagner, and Strauss, as well as eight compositions by Matthias Georg Kendlinger himself.

Since the first audition in 2002, which attracted 200 musicians, the orchestra has come a long way. Thousands of small and significant steps—including the acquisition of Adams timpani, Alexander horns, and valuable string instruments, partnerships with string manufacturers, and television appearances on broadcasters such as Danish Broadcasting (DR), ZDF, and ORF—have helped shape Kendlinger’s K&K Philharmoniker into what it is today: one of Europe’s leading privately funded symphony orchestras.
