Artist bio
What if your entire future was decided by the flip of a coin? That’s the scenario Minneapolis based musician Nur-D (aka Matt Allen) posed to himself in his final year of High School. Heads=music, tails=professional wrestler.
Growing up in the shadow of the twin cities, Matt fell in love with all things entertainment. A theater kid at heart, he thrived in front of an audience. His natural charisma & love of performing led him to start rock outfit Saving Vinyl City/Black Genesis, but it never reached the heights he envisioned for himself, so… he pivoted.
Matt embraced another love…hip-hop. He entered a competition called “Shut Up & Rap” in 2018, & never looked back, winning the competition 4 times & having to be retired from competition. This earned him a slot on the largest hip hop music festival in the world; Soundset, performing alongside the Wu-Tang Clan, Tyler, The Creator, & Migos.
Soon after, he linked with friend & collaborator DJ Hayes, & they proceeded to take over the Twin Cities scene; winning best new artist, best live performer, & best musician from multiple publications whilst performing at venues from US Bank Stadium to Paisley Park.
His music traverses terrain between geek culture, government overreach, self love, mental health & the Black struggle while opening for acts just as diverse including both Ludacris & MisterWives as well as landing a spot at SXSW.
9 full length albums & 150+ songs later…he became a professional wrestler.
