Josie James

Josie James is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist from Atlanta, now based in Nashville. Drawing from folk, soul, R&B, and pop, her music blends honest songwriting with expressive musicianship and a distinctive vocal style.
After studying Commercial Songwriting at Middle Tennessee State University, James has built her career as a touring artist, performing throughout the Southeast, Northeast, and Midwest while spending time in some of the country’s most influential music communities, including Nashville, New Orleans, Muscle Shoals, and Los Angeles. She spends her summers performing in Provincetown, Massachusetts, a historic artists’ community known for its long-standing connection to writers, musicians, and performers. She has opened for artists including Lunar Vacation, The Secret Sisters, and Penelope Road.
In addition to her solo work, James performs with the Nashville-based vocal group Young Original, a four-part vocal ensemble that reimagines classics from the Great American Songbook through fresh arrangements and timeless harmony. The group has toured nationally, bringing their blend of jazz, pop, and vocal harmony to audiences across the country.
Following a series of independent releases beginning in 2024, James released her debut EP in April 2025 and continues to expand her catalog with new projects spanning folk, R&B, and acoustic music, including a studio EP recorded in Los Angeles.
