Formed in Austin, Texas in 2012, Vilamoura began as a punk-rock project before quickly evolving into a metalcore and post-hardcore force defined by alternative vocals, melodic choruses, and heavy, distorted guitars driven by fast-paced percussion. Drawing inspiration from bands like I Prevail, Bad Omens, and Bring Me The Horizon, the band blends pop and emo-leaning hooks with the intensity and structure of modern heavy music. In 2013, Vilamoura solidified their identity as a dual-vocalist project, officially branding under the name Vilamoura with the debut EP, Buried Alive (2015).
In 2026, Vilamoura enters a new chapter with the release of Lost—a project that signals both a sonic and emotional evolution for the band. The Lost EP explores the distance between who you thought you would become and who you actually are, confronting the moments, and coping mechanisms that caused those paths to diverge. Central to the story is the theme of escapism: the instinct to run, hide, or numb out when life becomes overwhelming, and how that pursuit of comfort can quietly trap people in place.
Inspired by real struggles witnessed in their own lives, Lost addresses escapism in all its forms from self harm and addiction to more socially accepted habits like excessive gaming or chronic procrastination. Through this lens, Vilamoura delivers their most honest and focused work to date, pairing emotionally raw storytelling with a modern heavy sound that defines there future direction.
