Nico Couck

Nico Couck is a guitarist whose work is deeply rooted in contemporary music. Described by The New York Times as “agile, compelling and irresistible,” he has established an international profile as a soloist, chamber musician and collaborator in the field of new music.

Couck has appeared at festivals including Wien Modern, Festival Présences and Festival Internacional Cervantino, as well as venues such as the Barbican Centre and the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory. A core member of Nadar Ensemble, other collaborations include projects with Klangforum Wien, Ensemble Linea, Ictus Ensemble, SWR Experimentalstudio, Ensemble Multilatérale and the Arditti Quartet.

He has premiered solo, chamber and concerto works by composers including Oscar Bianchi, Chaya Czernowin, Clemens Gadenstätter and Eva Reiter. His discography includes releases on Kairos, Sub Rosa and Deadland Records, among others.

Couck has received several awards, including from the Internationales Musikinstitut Darmstadt. Alongside performing, he teaches at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp.
