Pedal steel, cascading vocal harmonies, and zippy orchestral strings intertwine with Libby Dale's confident melodic sensibilities and "rippling Smoky Mountain voice" (WMOT) on her forthcoming debut LP, Freehand. Combining alt-country and folk pop influences, Dale creates a sonic dreamland where the voices of Nanci Griffith and Iris DeMent meet the roots-adjacent genre agnosticism of more contemporary indie acts such as Big Thief.
