Matney Cook

Matney Cook is a singer/songwriter from the Skagit Valley in the pacific northwest. Currently living in the Seattle area, she has led bands like Mudflat Walkers and Nobody’s Peach in addition to her frequent solo performances.

Matney has a vocal style inspired by jazz but influenced by honky tonk and folk. Her writing style from song to song varies from waltzy tunes and heart felt love songs to uplifting ballads and sassy country numbers.

Her debut album, Natural Time, was released 2021 on OGS Records. The album was a culmination of years of writing and recording, produced with Ken Stringfellow (The Posies, REM) and recorded at several studios throughout Northwest Washington with help from many friends.

Her follow up, Life Goes On, was released Sept 2025. Co-produced with Tom McKay of OGS Records and featuring many lifelong friends and collaborators, it is a continued evolution of her folky style, playful and melancholy, syrupy sweet and sassy. It collects songs both old and new and presents a bold image of a songwriter casting back into her history while keeping her eyes on the new horizon.
