Indian Ocean is a pioneering Indian folk-fusion band that has been making waves in the music industry for over three decades.
Known for their unique blend of Indian traditional music with rock, jazz, and other genres, the band has created a distinct musical voice. Since their formation in 1990, Indian Ocean has been at the forefront of the Indian music scene, constantly pushing boundaries and breaking new ground.
Their discography is impressive, with several critically acclaimed albums that have cemented their place in Indian music history, including Kandisa, Jhini, and Desert Rain. Their music has also been featured in acclaimed films including Masaan and Anurag Kashyap's Black Friday.
Over the years, Indian Ocean has received numerous awards and accolades for their groundbreaking music, including the MTV Immies Award for Best Rock Album and the GIMA Award for Best Fusion Album.
In 2023, the band released Tu Hai, marking another chapter in their continuing musical evolution. They subsequently continued to take their music to audiences across the world, including a special tour celebrating 35 + years of the Indian Ocean, with performances across India and the United States.
In February 2026, Indian Ocean released AASHIQANA, a collaboration with acclaimed artist Chaardiwari. The track went on to feature on the charts, further showcasing the band's ability to connect their distinctive sound with newer musical voices and audiences.
Now, Indian Ocean is releasing a series of new singles and taking greater ownership of their music and its journey to audiences. Their upcoming single marks the beginning of this next chapter, with more new music to follow.
Alongside these releases, the band is embarking on the Indie-pendence Tour a touring chapter built around their independently released music and their continued commitment to creating, releasing, and performing music on their own terms.
With over 35 years of music behind them and a new generation of songs ahead, Indian Ocean continues to evolve without losing the musical identity that has defined them for decades.
