WordPlay T. Jay is an independent hip-hop artist, producer, and creative entrepreneur known for crafting “Music for the Underdog.” He makes storytelling-driven hip-hop about perseverance, identity, and building your own lane.
Originally from Little Rock, Arkansas, he began recording as a teenager before launching his independent label, On The Map Music Group, in 2005.
His breakout single “Breakfast and Biggie” gained national attention after being featured on MTV’s RapFix Live, where it received commentary from Ja Rule and Sway Calloway. Over the years, he has released a steady catalog of independent albums, including 72701 Stories, The Cycle, Job Application, Orientation Day, and Overtime.
His ninth studio album, Terry, explores the stories that shaped the person he is today, touching on trauma, domestic abuse, divorce, and personal healing through layered production and nostalgic storytelling.
