In All Over Mozart, you hear how Mozart’s musical language continues to resonate through the centuries. The soloist is violinist Daniel Lozakovich, who makes his debut with Amsterdam Sinfonietta in this programme.
In Sinfonia concertante, Mozart perfectly balances virtuosity, emotion and experiment. The viola plays a leading role—rare in his time—in an intimate musical dialogue with the solo violin and the orchestra. Tchaikovsky begins his Serenade for Strings in the style of Mozart, out of deep admiration for the classical master. Although rooted in classical form, it unfolds into his unmistakable Romantic language: lyrical, colourful and full of passion.
In his contemporary tribute, Raskatov freely plays with Mozart melodies, combining them with unexpected harmonies and percussion effects. The thought that everything passes—both tragic and comforting—invites us to search for what is eternal. Šerkšnytė captures this sense of time beautifully in …this too shall pass….
