The Politix. Biography

The Politix, one of Miami’s most sought after acts, have spent the last year establishing their presence in the south and extending their reputation to the US national spotlight.  Influenced by their mash-up of musical upbringings, founding members, Jason Matthews, Nick Tannura, and Aaron Glueckauf, have developed the kind of relationship that extends far beyond playing their instruments. In the fall of 2014, the powerful writing trio teamed up with Florida bred vocalist, Johnny Walker, and released their debut EP entitled REACH OUT, a palette of originals filtered through the band’s unique sense of soul music and fearless emotional lyricism. By fusing the grit of rock & roll with warm electronic soundscapes and infectious head-nodding grooves, The Politix have only just begun their journey to push forward their completely unique brand of music which they call ‘Progressive Soul.’ The quartet is set to release their first single entitled “Rails,” which features Walker's cousin and Lee Boy's sacred steel guitarist, Roosevelt Collier, on April 7th, 2015. Emotionally hopeful and relentlessly powerful, the collaboration with Collier is an epic force of sound filled with layered guitars, thick organ pads, and soaring lyrics that propel the listener through the sentiments of leaving home and embarking on an odyssey. Fittingly, “Rails” represents the attitude and the mindset of the band as they move down a path of continuous musical exploration and sonic evolution. Soul music played with the grit of rock & roll, the warmth of electronic soundscapes, and the beat of infectious head-nodding grooves.
