Artist bio
The project of Byron Region female artist, GIMMY (pronounced "gimmie") brings a diverse flavour to the table indie-rock with sways of new wave-garage, indie-rock and glimpses of folk. Alongside GIMMY, her band consists of Samson Radici (guitar), Kyle Aubrey (bass) and Barclay Israel (drums).

GIMMY’s forthcoming album, Things Look Different Now is the epitome of what a debut record is all about; a collection of songs that showcase just how far GIMMY has come and how much things have changed — both in her life and musically — since Gemma Owens’ first launched her solo endeavour back in 2021. Through the album’s 12 tracks, Owens’ explores her own ideas and experiences of “change”, through themes dealing with relationships, ageing, life phases, success, grief and memories. The album is soaked in 80s and 90s nostalgia, with the band bringing together an eclectic collection of songs that weaves garage and surf rock, post-punk, psychedelia and indie rock together, through GIMMY’s stunning voice, Australian charm and unique songwriting.

GIMMY has been scaling the east coast sharing the stage with the likes of TOPS (CA), The Murlocs, Bad Dreams, Floodlights, Maple Glider, Nice Biscuit and more. As well as winning hearts at Brisbane's 2023 Bigsound, GIMMY took the main stage at Splendour In The Grass 2023 through winning the Triple J Unearthed competition as well as the Triple J Unearthed “Feature Artist”.

In the short space of her career, GIMMY has had multiple premiere recognition from RAGE for her iconic film clips as well as receiving glowing reviews from Pilerats, The Rolling Stone AU, Tone Deaf, Blank Street Press, LiveWire, New Commute (USA), Raven Sings The Blues (USA), as well as radio support from 2Ser, 4ZZZ, RRR, FBi, Byron Bay FM and playlisting on Spotify ‘Local Noise’ playlist.
