Artist bio
Matthew Jones is a soulful Christian pop singer-songwriter and worship leader based in the Northeast. Labeled a powerhouse voice set on reminding people that God has a hope and a future for each of our lives, singer-songwriter Matthew Jones has been performing and leading worship for the better part of his life. Drawing inspiration from life experiences and blending musical influences ranging from pop to gospel/R&B, CCM and worship from such artists as Rachael Lampa, Unspoken, Jaci Velasquez and Tobymac, Matt fuses soulful vocals with precise artistry and masterful lyrics to create songs that are as catchy as they are relatable. Matt formed the band Right Hand Shade in 2016, going on to release two acclaimed full-length albums and several singles, touring the US East Coast and performing on stages before large crowds at high-profile festivals, beach amphitheaters and youth retreat weekends. During these years, Matt leaned full throttle into his God-given gifts and watched many dreams become realities: Recording with award-winning producers, receiving national radio airplay with multiple singles, and opening for such artists as Mike Weaver (Big Daddy Weave), Phil Joel (Newsboys), JJ Weeks, Mark Schultz, Love & the Outcome, John Tibbs, and others. It seemed like Matt’s voice was unstoppable.
But the fulfillment of these dreams and the band’s rise as one of the fastest-growing Christian acts in the Northeast also came with its share of losses and soul-searching questions. During the pandemic and following the departure of two band members from Right Hand Shade, Matt found himself searching for that voice that once seemed unshakeable. Through conversations with friends and mentors, God’s reminders to lean into Matt’s own unique story became clear. He began dreaming of new music that would reflect his gospel and worship roots, combined with his experiences on the mission field in Latin America, and as a parent of two children with a chronic illness. Amid healing, new songs were born. Soul-filled songs. Songs about grace. Songs that enable Matt to access the heart like nothing else can. Teaming up with award-winning producer Chris Hoisington (The Brothers McClurg), Matt released his long awaited full-length solo album in 2024. Signing with Nashville-based label A Thousand Hills Music and set to release his first worship EP in 2026, winning Christian Male Pop Artist of the Year at the 2024 WVIU Radio Music Awards, touring nationally, opening for such artists as Unspoken, Matt Maher, John Tibbs, & Dave Pettigrew, and performing on the main stages of such festivals as SoulFest and Connect Festival, Matt is continuing his journey as a solo artist and advancing RHS’ mission of strength in a dark age. Today he tours the East Coast to share his story of hope and freedom with renewed authenticity and vulnerability. As it turns out, his voice is as strong now as it’s ever been.
