Tallan, M.D. Biography

Tallan MD is an independent alternative pop-rock band from Toronto, Ontario. Tallan MD is currently in the process of mixing and mastering their first studio album, CATHEXIS, which was recorded at Beach Road Studios by the Juno award winning Siegfried Meier and mastered in part by Chris Gehringer (Katy Perry; Lady Gaga). All songs on CATHEXIS are original compostions. Cyrus Rhodes, of "Indie Music Digest" in Seattle, Washington, says Tallan MD "is a highly original and fascinating musical experience from start to finish. The music is fresh and highly entertaining. It’s strong suit – its amazing vocal presence and impressive songwriting finesse by Tallan. The songs are extremely melodic, passionate, and captivating." The lead single, folie a deux, will be released digitially via itunes and other digital stores on May 15, and will be accompanied by a music video and realease party in Toronto, Ontario. Additionally, the band plans a small Canadian tour in support of the single. CATHEXIS is set for release in the summer of 2015. Tallan MD was originally an indie-tronica solo-project created by Tallan Byram. This incarnation of the project lasted from February 2012 until February 2014. In March 2014, Tallan Byram began working with the three-piece grunge-rock band Slouch, and the four members make up the current line up. Tallan Byram sings and plays rhythm guitar; Calder Mckenna plays lead guitar; Jay Holdsworth plays bass guitar, and Ian Penner plays drums. Tallan MD are AFM members in good-standing, and are affiliated with BMI. Their career goals include writing and recording innovative and accesible pop music, playing to a wide and varied audience in both North America and around the globe, and contributing songs and performances to other artists and charitable causes. Tallan MD are incredibly excited to share their new music, and cannot wait to get on the road and perform as often as possible. Dave McIntyre, of www.examiner.com, said the following after seeing Tallan MD perform at CMW 2014 in Toronto, Ontario: "When the speakers went quiet, there was the look of wonderment in many faces. And even if everyone didn't quite get what the hell had just happened, there was no doubt they wanted more." Oh, yes.
