Friends Don't Lie

Friends Don’t Lie are an alternative punk trio from Frankfurt am Main who, within a
remarkably short time, evolved from a pandemic-born project into a defining act within
German guitar-driven music. Founded in 2020, the band initially started as a creative outlet
— but rapid early successes quickly made it clear that something much bigger was taking
shape.
Following their English-language debut EP Year Zero (November 2022), the trio made a
pivotal decision in 2023: from that point on, they would write exclusively in German. The shift
in language brought a new sense of immediacy and depth to their music. The songs became
more personal, emotionally charged and sharper in attitude — without losing any of their raw
energy or intensity.
Before playing a single regular live show, Friends Don’t Lie won the Warsteiner Bandcontest.
Their very first performance led straight to appearances at Rock am Ring and Rock im Park
— an exceptional career launch that drew nationwide attention. Shortly after, the band also
won the Let the Players Play Contest in the Rock/Metal category, securing a slot at the
Reload Festival.
Between 2023 and 2024, the band released their first German-language double EP Was
lange währt, wird auch nicht gut, which became their most defining release to date. Written,
produced, marketed and released entirely independently, the record stands as a clear
statement of the band’s uncompromising DIY ethos and their newly sharpened artistic
identity.
Numerous festival and club shows followed, including appearances at Rocco Del Schlacko,
Lollapalooza and Reeperbahn Festival, as well as support shows for international
heavyweights like Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes. In 2025 alone, the band played over 30
shows, toured nationwide with Punk Rock Factory, and headlined the biggest show of their
career to date in front of around 400 fans.
Musically, Friends Don’t Lie blend pop punk, punk rock and emo with modern alternative
elements, fast-paced vocals and powerful breakdowns. Lyrically, their songs navigate
self-doubt, friendship and intense emotions while taking a clear stance against racism,
bullying and exclusion. Rather than preaching, the band see themselves as a voice for a
generation that wants to show conviction without hiding its vulnerability.
Since 2025, Friends Don’t Lie have been signed to Uncle M and are booked by Living
Concerts. With their debut album Zenit der Dramaturgie, scheduled for release in 2026, the
band take the next logical step — presenting a fully realized musical statement and
continuing the steady rise of a band shaping its path on its own terms.
