Artist bio
Banchan is the electronic music project of Chicago-based artist Matthias Mehrpuyan. Following the retirement of his previous moniker Mattheo in 2025, Matthias launched this new project to explore a sound that balances driving club energy with deep, melodic resonance.
With a debut 4-track EP on Dusky’s 17 Steps label and a 2026 schedule featuring a main-stage performance at ARC Music Festival, Banchan is quickly becoming a force in the global underground scene. As the head of Street Food Records, he continues to push forward-thinking sounds through high-energy sets and immersive visual projects.
