Artist bio
Walter Trout (born 1951 in Ocean City, New Jersey) is a blues guitarist and front man of Walter Trout and the Radicals.
Trout's career began on the Jersey coast scene of the late 60's and early 70's that jump started the career of artists like Bruce Springsteen. He then decided to relocate to Los Angeles where he became a sideman for such artists as Percy Mayfield and Deacon Jones. He also worked in the bands of John Lee Hooker and Joe Tex.
In 1981 be became the guitarist for blues rock band Canned Heat. This led to an invitation to play in John Mayall's Bluesbreakers where he shared the stage with guitarist Coco Montoya. He left the Bluesbreakers in 1989 and formed the Walter Trout Band which developed a successful following in Europe.
In 1998 Trout released his self-titled domestic debut CD and renamed his band Walter Trout and the Free Radicals (later renamed Walter Trout and the Radicals). Since that time Trout has been recording and touring both in North America and in Europe.

What fans are saying
What a guy, if he wasn’t a guitarist he’d be a comedian of some sorts. What a lovely guy, I instantly warmed to his personality and casual demeanour. No pretence here just honest blues and rock! Obviously he’s a legend and it would be easier to write down who he hasn’t played with in his illustrious career than who he has, Canned Heat, John Lee H****r, John Mayall. His playing was exactly what you’d expect from a seasoned blues man, but sadly the sound at the venue couldn’t cope with the volume or the amount of musicians blasting through the P.A. I say this because when the support act: solo singer and guitarist Leoni Jane Kennedy was performing, the sound quality was absolutely heavenly and crystal clear. During Trout’s performance there was very little bottom end and I felt that every musician was batting for a place in the mix and the drums as usual won! (I moved around the venue and the sound was much the same wherever I stood), It all came together for me when the exceptional harmonica player Will Wilde joined for 2 or more numbers, the mix just fell into place. Walter’s son: John Trout’s guitar came through very well in the mix as there was less reverb on his amp setting. If I could have shouted to the bassist, I’d have said “Turn up”! All in all a great experience, raw blues that rocked. I was truly honoured to have been in the presence of a guitar legend and left with a ringing in my ears and a warm feeling in my soul as I walked back across Lady Julian bridge to my car the other side of the river.
